Just finished reading “Report: Food Destroys.

While I was trying to follow global trends in food tech, mainly from the viewpoint of intellectual property, new developments were popping up, and then, at the end of 2022, international journalist Mika Tsutsumi published a book titled “Report: Food is Destroying”. I read through the book immediately, assuming that it was a critical look at the technology of food tech.

In the end, more than half of what was presented seemed to be, in my own simplified and personal understanding, about how traditional farming methods that respect the soil can restore the global environment, ecosystems, and people’s health. I got the impression that the content of the book was more critical of the recent agri-tech or digital agriculture.

However, chapters 1 and 2 were an introduction to food tech, followed by criticism of it, so I took the liberty to go into a bit of detail by excerpting some of the descriptions that bothered me as expressions.

It is easy to criticize the latest technology, and it is bound to happen every time the latest technology comes out, but personally, I don’t think it is very fair to criticize only without a proper understanding.
